Comparison of Kapton® CRC, Kapton® CR and HN

Due to limited production capacitiy DuPont decided to move the production of the partial discharge resistant Kapton® to another production site in America. Therefore they changed the name of the product and some properties differ slightly. For both products UL-file #E39505 is applicable.
Important: Since end of 2018 Kapton® CR is no longer produced.

Both products substitute Kapton® HN ideally in applications where insulation can be subjected to

Partial Discharge. Performance (endurance) of Kapton® CRC is minimum 20 times higher (DuPont: 1250 V, 1050 Hz, with 12,7 mm electrode radius, plate against electrode) than Kapton® HN.
Typical applications are AC inverter, Duty Motors, High Voltage Applications for Trains and E-Mobility, Wind Power Generators and other kind of industrial motors and generators.
